Guiding Principles

Page history last edited by Trisha Thorme 12 years, 9 months ago
  • Cracking open our hearts to those in the greatest need in the global community is the underlying reason for our existence.

  •  Providing appropriate options for expressions of such compassion is the responsibility of Parish Representatives in particular and the Task Force in general.

  • Listening carefully to those around us and to our deepest selves as well as praying for guidance is how we learn how God is leading us.

  • Radical acceptance is essential to being able to listen to our own hearts as well as  to the hearts of those around us.

  • We are a community;  we take time to share stories of the trials and tribulations in our personal lives.

  • Dramatically reducing global poverty is a long-term goal that requires continual transformation of the hearts and minds of all people, including us.

  • MDG Task Force members and Parish Representatives are called to be educators, organizers and leaders.

  • MDG Task Force members and Parish Representatives are expected to model behavior that is respectful and empowering in all we do.

  • The intent of the Task Force is to seek to change the broken and sinful conditions that create human need in the first place.

  • Those involved with the Task Force are expected to contribute .07% of their income to global poverty issues to the extent it is possible.  We are expected to encourage their parishes to do likewise.

  •  Our goal is to strive to fulfill our baptismal covenant to strive for justice and peace among all people.

  • In all that we do we pray that God’s will, not ours, be done.
